01 — A letter to business owners

Dear business owner,

Deciding to sell the company you built is not just a financial decision. It is about the people who have worked beside you, the clients who trust you, and the name you spent years building.

In our conversations with owners across the country, we keep hearing the same concern: will the buyer understand what makes this company work, or will they only look at the numbers?

We created 62W because we believe good companies deserve a buyer who wants to keep them alive and make them stronger. We have founded and run companies ourselves. We know that a company’s value lies in its people and its relationships, and we treat both with care.

If you are thinking about the next chapter, we would be glad to listen, with no commitment and in complete confidence.

João Figueira and Pedro Barreira
Partners, 62W

03

Two ways to join 62W

As a platform company

Larger, well-established companies become the foundation of a sector group. The management team usually keeps a leadership role and helps build the group. Owners can reinvest part of the sale proceeds and share in the group’s future growth.

As a company joining a group

Smaller companies join an existing group. They keep their local identity and client relationships, and gain a shared back office, technology and more services to offer. Owners can plan a gradual handover at a pace that suits them.

Frequently asked questions

What happens to my team?

We buy companies because of their people. Our plan is to keep and develop your team, and we decide together how and when to announce the sale.

Will the company keep its name?

In most cases, yes. Your company’s name carries your clients’ trust, and we want to protect it.

Do I have to stay after the sale?

It depends on what you want. Some owners stay for years in a leadership role; others hand over gradually over 6 to 24 months. We agree a transition plan with you before signing.

Can I keep a stake in the company?

Yes. Many owners choose to reinvest part of the sale proceeds so they share in the group’s future growth.

How do you value my company?

We start from the company’s real, recurring earnings, after adjusting for personal or one-off expenses that many owners run through the business. We then consider the quality of the client base, the team and the growth potential. We explain every step of our valuation.

How long does a sale take?

Usually 2 to 6 months from the first conversation to closing, depending on how quickly information is available.

How do you keep the process confidential?

We sign a non-disclosure agreement before we receive any sensitive information. Only a small group of people is involved, and nobody in your company or among your clients hears about it unless you decide so.

Do I need an M&A advisor?

Not necessarily. Many owners speak to us directly. If you already work with an advisor, we are glad to work with them.
